WEATHERFORD –Southwestern Oklahoma State had its fair share of chances but could not find any success at scoring goals and fell to visiting Ouachita Baptist, 3-0, Sunday afternoon in Weatherford.

The shutout was the third of the season for the Bulldogs and dropped their overall record to 3-4-1 on the year. Ouachita improved to 3-2 with the win and made it a clean sweep against Lone Star Conference foes. The Tigers defeated East Central 5-0 in their game previous to SWOSU.

Ouachita’s Joyce Hansen scored one goal and assisted another to lead the Tigers offensive attack. Her goal in the 53rd minute came on a nifty one-on-one move past SWOSU keeper Keli Bass that put the game out of reach at 3-0.

OBU scored first in the game’s 23rd minute off a corner kick when Bethany Ebberts knocked home a shot that came courtesy of a well-timed pass from teammate Lyndi Cline.

OBU’s Rachel Folk then made it 2-0 four minutes later when she scored in the game’s 27th minute on an assist by Hansen.

SWOSU managed 12 shots to Ouchita’s 15 but only three of which were on goal. Stephanie Kneedler, Carrie Dumbauld and Cherilyn Pritchett each had shots that required a save by OBU keeper Taylor Culberson.

SWOSU’s next game will be Thursday at Oklahoma Christian before returning home Friday, Sept. 29 with a matchup against Colorado State-Pueblo.
