SWOSU Blanked by NMHU, 1-0

WEATHERFORD – Southwestern Oklahoma State University peppered New Mexico Highlands with shot-after-shot but were unable to score, losing 1-0 in a women’s soccer game Sunday in Weatherford.

SWOSU managed 16 shots against the visitor’s 13 but none got past NMHU goalkeeper Mekaila Doman. The loss dropped SWOSU’s record to 4-6-1 overall while NMHU improved to 2-8-1.

The game’s only goal was scored by NMHU’s Corey Strickland in the game’s 23rd minute. The score came on a well-timed pass by teammate Veronica Padilla.

SWOSU’s best scoring opportunities came off the legs of Jamie Hilterbran and Robin Kluck. Each had four shots, two of which were on goal.

SWOSU returns to Lone Star Conference play Friday, Oct. 6 at Texas Woman’s University. The next home game for the Bulldogs is Friday, Oct. 13 against Eastern New Mexico.
