Soccer Ends Season, Miss Tournament

WEATHERFORD – Southwestern Oklahoma State University’s hopes of making its first-ever, women’s soccer post-season tournament ended Sunday with a 1-0 double-overtime loss at Angelo State.

ASU’s Ashley Tatum scored in the game’s 109th minute in what had the makings of a 0-0 draw before her last second goal. The Bulldogs, who had needed a win in order to advance their season, end the year at 6-9-2 and seventh in the LSC standings at at 3-5-1. ASU, owners of a 12-5-1 overall record and 5-3-1 league mark, now join five other LSC schools in the post-season tournament scheduled for next week in Edmond.

SWOSU managed just five shots against ASU’s tough defense while the Rambelles kept the Bulldogs on their heels spraying 25 shots at the goal.

Carrie Dumbauld ended the season as the team’s top goal scorer for the third consecutive year. The junior midfielder scored seven goals and added an assist to finish with 15 points on the year.
