Six Named Honorable Mention

October 30, 2006

RICHARDSON, Texas –Despite having one of its best soccer seasons in school history, Southwestern Oklahoma State University was shown little favor from the league’s coaches with the announcement of Lone Star Conference all-conference soccer team.

The Bulldogs, who ended the year at 6-9-2 and had their highest finish ever in the LSC standings at seventh, did not have a player voted to either the 14-person first team or the 15-person second team. Only last place East Central was the only other school that did not have a first or second team selection.

Still the Bulldogs landed six on the 25-player honorable mention squad led by seniors Robin Kluck and Christine Le. Other Bulldogs who were named to the honorable mention list were Jamie Hilterbran, Carrie Dumbauld, Rachel Slack and Keli Bass.

Kluck was a dominating player for SWOSU on this field year with her strong and spirited play from her midfield spot. The Edmond native started in all 17 games and finished with two goals and two assists.

Le concluded her stellar career at SWOSU as a starter in 72 consecutive games dating back to her first game as a freshman. The Mustang native had one assist from her defender position this year and was one of the team’s best defensive stoppers.

Hilterbran, a junior from Mustang, had two goals and a team-best four assists. Her penalty kick goal against Texas A&M-Commerce in the game’s 84th minute lifted SWOSU to its first victory in 10 tries against the team that would eventual be the LSC runner-up.

Dumbuald, a junior from Fort Worth, topped SWOSU’s scoring charts for the third consecutive year. She had seven goals and one assist and finished with 15 points. She tied her own school record in the season’s first game when she netted three goals against St. Gregory’s.

Slack, a native of Broken Arrow, cracked the starting lineup from the very outset and was instrumental in the Bulldogs backline defense. She started and played all 17 games for the Bulldogs.

Bass, a native of Broken Arrow, had a successful return from knee surgery that kept her on the sidelines since the 2004 season. She shutout four opponents on the year and had a 1.85 goal against average.
