WEATHERFORD, Okla. --Southwestern Oklahoma State University tested itself against one of the top NCAA Division II soccer teams pushing No. 16 Washburn University early before eventually falling 3-0 in a match held Friday on campus. The game was locked in a scoreless tie before the Lady Blues pulled away in the second half.

The loss was SWOSU’s third in as many games while the Lady Blues improved to 1-2-1 on the year.

SWOSU’s defense yielded 34 shots,13 of which were on goal. The Bulldogs managed 10 shots, four of which were on goal. Freshmen Emily Edge and Elyse Berta combined for four of the Bulldogs' 10 shots.

Washburn scored first when Keely Lambath scored on a nifty assist by All-American Jessica Mainz in the first two minutes of the second half. Mainz then scored alone when she sent a 30-yard direct free kick into the back of the net to make it 2-0 in the 61st minute.
