Soccer Signs Eight Players
February 22, 2008
WEATHERFORD, Okla. -- Soccer coach Joe Bradley has hopes that the eight players who signed written agreements to attend Southwestern Oklahoma State University next fall will better the Bulldogs in a number of ways.
Expected to join SWOSU in 2008 will be forwards Lorina Salinas (Red Oak, Texas), Taylor Nelson (Burleson, Texas), Courtney Hailey (Arlington, Texas), midfielders Danielle Workman (Mansfield, Texas), Korey Hearn, (Garland, Texas), defenders Amanda Armstrong (Wylie, Txas), Kaely Forbus (Plano, Texas) and goalkeeper Lauren Mason (Frisco, Texas).
“We are very excited about this class,” Bradley said. “All are of excellent character and have the ability and talent to contribute for years to come.”
Bradley said that his main emphasis was to make SWOSU stronger in attacking its half of the field. Last year SWOSU made 13 goals in 19 games.
“This group all has speed and lots of it,” Bradley said. “More importantly, they know how to read the game and make positive things happen.”
Salinas, Armstrong and Forbus all played together for the North Texas Strikers Club team, which is considered one of the top-level teen programs in the Dallas Metroplex.
Workman and Hailey played for the Sting West organization while Nelson played for DFW Tejanos Premier, Mason on the Texas Spirit, and Hearn played for the Dallas Texans.
“Mechanically, all these players are very good and come from an outstanding soccer background,” Bradley said. “I certainly expect them to compete for playing time right from the beginning.”
