Soccer Blanked by Buffs

SWOSU spent the game’s first 78 minutes playing right in step trailing only 2-0. However, WTAMU scored in the 79th minute and again with just a few seconds to play to make the four-goal margin.
SWOSU dropped to 2-10 with the loss and 0-3 in the Lone Star Conference. WTAMU, the league leader at this time, improved to 10-1-1 overall and remained unbeaten in LSC play at 4-0.
WTAMU’s Elisabeth Markussan added to her league leading goal total by scoring the game’s first two. She scored in the 15th minute and again just before the first half horn.
SWOSU did manage four shots against the stingy Buff defense, with Elyse Berta getting credited for a shot on goal. WTAMU had 19 shots with 11 on goal.
SWOSU keeper Becky Hilterbran played well picking up seven saves, including some of the spectacular variety.
The Bulldogs will next play Sunday, Oct. 12 at home against Eastern New Mexico. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
