Bradley Resigns Soccer Post
November 6, 2008
WEATHERFORD, Okla. – Southwestern Oklahoma State University women’s soccer coach Joe Bradley has submitted his letter of resignation to school officials on Wednesday, citing a desire to pursue other interests.
Bradley spent eight years as head coach after joining the program as an assistant in 2000. He served as the both the head men’s and women’s soccer coach during the 2002 and 2003 seasons. He assumed full-time duties with the women in 2004 after the men’s program was dropped.
"I have enjoyed coaching here at Southwestern," Bradley said. "However, the time has come for me to focus on other opportunities that will allow me to spend more time with my family. I am stepping aside now so that my successor can get a head start on what will be an important recruiting season. I eagerly look forward to seeing SWOSU succeed on the soccer field in the future."
Under Bradley’s guidance, SWOSU has had 15 players who have earned all-conference recognition; including another 32 players who were honored with selection to the league’s all-academic teams.
“Joe has done an extraordinary job of developing a women’s soccer program that is highly competitive and produces quality student-athletes,” said Todd Thurman, SWOSU Director of Athletics. “He has been a great ambassador for our athletic department and for this university. We wish him and his young family all the best in the future.”
Bradley, and his wife, Julie, have two children, a son, Joe, (2) and a daughter, Jaden, (10 months).
