Beech Rallies SWOSU Past Missouri Valley

Weatherford, OK - Southwestern Oklahoma State’s got a four-hit, four-RBI effort from freshman Whittney Beech to rally past Missouri Valley, 8-6, in softball action Saturday in Shawnee. The victory evened the Bulldogs overall record to 2-2 this season.Beech’s bases-loaded triple in the sixth-inning sparked a five-run outburst that allowed the Bulldogs to recover from a 6-3 hole. Beech earlier had an RBI single in the second that scored Jennifer Buccola to close Missouri Valley’s lead to 3-1.
SWOSU was also aided in the fifth by a pair of Missouri Valley errors and a passed ball that allowed another runner to score.
Alex Zukerman pitched the final two innings of scoreless relief to pick up her first win of the season for the Bulldogs. The freshman right-hander allowed no hits, struck out three batters and walked just one to improve to 1-2 on the year.
SWOSU’s next game will be Tuesday, Feb. 14 at Oklahoma Christian. The Bulldogs will return home Monday, Feb. 20 to play against Oklahoma Science and Arts in a doubleheder beginning at 2 p.m.
