SWOSU Extends SOSU Before Falling

Durant, OK - Southwestern Oklahoma State pushed its opponent into extra innings before eventually falling 4-3 to Southeastern Oklahoma State in the second game of a softball doubleheader. SOSU won the first game 3-0 to complete the sweep Tuesday in Durant.
The losses dropped SWOSU’s overall record to 8-25 and 5-7 in the Lone Star Conference North Division play while Southeastern improved to 28-6 and 8-2.
In the second game, the Bulldogs moved in front in their half of the third by scoring three runs. Laci Keplinger doubled to score Crystal Clay and Keri Glidewell knotting the game at 2-2. Keplinger would later be thrown out at third before freshman Whittney Beech followed with a solo homer give SWOSU a 3-2 lead.
Southeastern tied it at 3-3 in the fifth and then brought in star pitcher Crystal Clearly in relief. Clearly, who three-hit the Bulldogs in the first-game shutout, pitched three innings of hitless ball in the second game.
SOSU won the game with a run in the eighth. Clearly got the win improving to 16-3 while Alex Zukerman took the loss for the Bulldogs as her record dipped to 3-13.
The two teams will meet again in a rematch Saturday, April 1 in Weatherford. The doubleheader is set for a 1 p.m. start.
