Hamilton, Nash Earn LSC Award

RICHARDSON, Texas - Southwestern Oklahoma State softball players Sarah Hamilton and April Nash were two of 33 Lone Star Conference North Division players that were selected to the all-conference team. Both Hamilton and Nash were selected to the division’s honorable mention list.
Hamilton, a senior from Mangum, was a four-year starter for the Bulldogs and ended her career as one of the school’s all-time leader in at bats, hits, runs and RBIs. She led NCAA Division II last year by reaching base a record 18 times after being hit by a pitch.
This year Hamilton started all 47 games and led the Bulldogs in hitting with a .293 average.
Nash, junior from Owasso, played her first year at SWOSU after spending two years at Independence Community College. he was the Bulldog’s top hitter in conference play and ended the year second on the team with a .292 average.
Division champion Midwestern State and fourth-place finisher Northeastern State ran away with the top individual awards. NSU second baseman Rachel Christian was named both Player and Newcomer of the Year while her teammate outfielder Shaelyn Moore earned Freshman-of-the-Year honors. MSU’s Brittany Wilson was selected as the Pitcher-of-the-Year while coach Brady Tigert was selected by his peers as the division’s top coach.
