WEATHERFORD – Southwestern Oklahoma State University evened its overall softball record thanks to sweeping visiting Oklahoma Panhandle State University in a doubleheader Tuesday afternoon in Weatherford. The Bulldogs won by scores of 6-4 and 9-0 to raise their overal record to 3-3 on the year.
In the first game pitcher Alli Flaman won her second game in as many starts by allowing four runs through seven innings of work. Flaman yielded eight hits while striking out four batters and walking none. She retired the final seven batters she faced after a rocky start through the first four innings.
SWOSU took command of the first game thanks to a two-out dropped fly ball by the OPSU right fielder that allowed April Nash and Stacey Creger to score. That break was all the Bulldogs needed as both Meghan Browning and Teryn Mazurkewich followed with RBI singles to put the Bulldogs ahead 6-3 after three innings.
In the second game, Nash was the hitting star going three-for-three with five RBI’s. Her bases loaded double in the first scored three runs and put the Bulldogs in cruise control early.

Other hitting stars for SWOSU was Alex Zukerman and Flaman who each collected three hits and added an RBI. The Bulldogs scored runs in each of their four at bats and scored enough to run-rule the Aggies after just four and one half innings.
Zukerman picked up her first win on the mound allowing just two hits in four innings of work. Kaci Carpenter pitched a scoreless fifth inning to preserve the shutout.
SWOSU will next play Friday and Saturday at the West Texas A&M Tournament.
