Softball Drops Pair to UCO
March 10, 2007

Keri Glidewell
WEATHERFORD, OK – Southwestern Oklahoma State University held its ground against the Lone Star Conference favorite University of Central before giving way late dropping both ends of a softball doubleheader by scores of 5-1 and 3-0.
The losses dipped SWOSU’s record to 8-10 on the season and put them at 0-2 in the LSC North Division. UCO improved to 9-4 on the year and 4-2 in division play.
SWOSU star Alli Flaman put the Bulldogs ahead early with an RBI double that scored Keri Glidewell in the first inning. The lead stayed that way into the third when UCO scored to tie the game at 1-1 against Bulldog starter Alex Zukerman.
The Bulldogs made costly errors in the sixth and seventh that each resulted in the Bronchos scoring runs. UCO added a run in the sixth and came away with three more in the seventh. All four of the runs were unearned.
Flaman had two of the Bulldogs four hits as UCO pitcher Alli Blake cruised to her fourth win in five decisions. Blake struck out six batters and allowed only two batters to reach second base in the final six innings.

Laci Keplinger
In the second game, UCO pitcher Hillary Brandt was nearly un-hittable. She gave up a pair of singles to Flaman and Lacie Keplinger but otherwise was flawless. She struck out five batters and none of which reached beyond first base.
Flaman was nearly as effective for the Bulldogs on the mound. She gave up three runs, two of which though came as a result of errors by the Bulldog fielders. She struck out three walked one and allowed just five hits.
The same two teams will meet again Tuesday. This time it will be at Edmond where UCO will play as host.
