Alex Zukerman
The losses dropped SWOSU to 8-12 on the year and 0-4 in LSC North play. UCO improved to 11-4 and 6-2 in division play. SWOSU will next play Thursday and Friday against conference rival East Central University. Thursday’s doubleheader will be in Ada with Friday’s two contests slated for Weatherford. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. on Friday
SWOSU appeared ready to pull a first-game upset when Teryn Mazurkewich belted a two-run homer in the top of the seventh to help the Bulldogs break a scoreless tie. The Bronchos then answered with back-to-back singles off SWOSU starter Alex Zukerman to lead off the seventh. Zukerman had sparkled early pitching one-hit ball through the first six innings.
UCO tied the game with one out and eventually won it when SWOSU reliever Alli Flaman was unable to work out of the jam and allowed the winning run.
In the second game, UCO put up four runs in the first inning and won with relative ease as the Bulldogs managed just two hits off starter Alli Blake in a 6-0 victory.
