WEATHERFORD, Okla. – Southwestern Oklahoma State University managed to square its overall record at 13 wins and 13 losses thanks to a doubleheader sweep of visiting Ouachita Baptist Thursday in Weatherford. The Bulldogs won the first game 6-5 in extra innings and took the nightcap by a 7-3 margin.

SWOSU will next play Saturday at home when it begins Lone Star Conference North Division play against Cameron University. The doubleheader is set for 1 p.m. in Weatherford.

The Bulldogs got off the mat several times in the first game coming up with clutch hits to send the game into extra innings and then eventually winning it outright in the 10th inning.

Erin Hutton’s RBI single in the 10th scored April Nash with the game’s winning run. Nash started the inning on second thanks to the international tiebreaker rule and then advanced to third on a sacrifice by Stacey Creger. Hutton came through with her biggest hit of the season as the Bulldogs celebrated the extra-inning win.

Kaci Carpenter picked up the win in relief as she worked four and one-third innings and allowed just two runs. Carpenter came in for starter Alex Zukerman in the sixth inning and helped cool the Tigers’ bats. The victory was her third of the season in five decisions.
