Flaman Voted to First Team

RICHARDSON, Texas– Southwestern Oklahoma State University’s record-setting slugger Alli Flaman was voted to the first team Lone Star Conference North Division team by the league’s head softball coaches. Flaman, a junior from Wetaskiwin, Alberta, Canada, was chosen as a utility player because she did not play a typical fielding position in the lineup.
Flaman ended the year second in the league in hitting with a .450 average, the second highest in SWOSU history. She set school records for most home runs in a season (9), runs batted in (38) and walks (23). She hit safely in 34 of the team’s 43 games, including 12 of her first 13 games as a Bulldog.
SWOSU’s April Nash was voted to the honorable mention all-conference team as a first baseman. Nash, a senior from Owasso, was an honorable mention player last season as well after transferring from Independence Junior College. She played and started 43-of-43 games and ended the year batting .297 with one home run and 21 RBI’s. She was one of the top fielding first baseman in the league, committing just four errors in 352 chances, for a percentage of .989.
SWOSU finished the season with a 17-26 mark and were sixth in the LSC North Division with a 7-17 record.
Midwestern State, the LSC North champs, had the Freshman-of-the-Year in pitcher Katie Peterson and coach-of-the-year in Brady Tigert.
Cameron’s Stephanie Bour was named the North Player-of-the-Year while Central Oklahoma’s Alli Blake was named the division’s top pitcher.
