DURANT, Okla. – Southwestern Oklahoma State University came up with two important victories to help ease what otherwise had been a rough outing at the Lone Star Conference Crossover Tournament in Durant this weekend. The Bulldogs beat Abilene Christian and Tarleton State and finished the three-day, seven-game tournament with a 2-5 record.

SWOSU will return to LSC North divisional play Tuesday when it hosts East Central in a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m. The Bulldogs, now 12-19 overall and 1-7 in the division, will need a strong late-season push to better their chances of qualifying for the LSC Postseason Tournament next month.

Megan McGill was the hero of the 3-2 win against Tarleton State as she went two-for-three with three RBI’s. McGill had an RBI double in the first and later drove in two more runs with a single in the third.

Brittany Strickland picked up the win on the mound, working seven innings and allowing just six hits and two runs. The win improved her to 3-8 on the year.

In the 5-4 win over Abilene Christian, SWOSU took advantage of four fielding miscues by the Wildcats in the first inning and pushed across four runs, only one of which was earned.

SWOSU won it in the fifth inning after allowing ACU to draw even at 4-4. McGill reached on a single and later scored on an RBI single by Stacey Creger to make it 5-4.

Alex Zukerman got the win in relief pitching three shutout innings, striking out six batters and allowing just one hit. Her record improved to 6-6 with the win.
