WEATHERFORD, Okla. – Southwestern Oklahoma State University could not solve East Central University pitcher Randee Crocket as the Del City freshman pitched back-to-back four hitters in leading the Tigers to 6-1 and 5-1 softball victories over the Bulldogs Tuesday in Weatherford.

The losses dropped SWOSU to 12-21 on the year and 1-10 in the Lone Star Conference North Division. ECU improved to 17-22-1 and 6-8 in division play. The two teams will resume their series Saturday with a doubleheader in Ada.

Crockett (8-6) carried a two-hit shutout into the seventh inning of the opening game before SWOSU scratched across a run. Brittany Strickland hit a two-out double and then scored whenErin Hutton delivered an RBI single.

In the second game, SWOSU got close in the second inning and trimmed ECU’s lead to 2-1. Strickland reached on a single then advanced around and scored on an error by the Tigers’ second baseman.

Crocket then helped her cause in the fourth with a three-run homer that grew ECU’s cushion to 5-1.

SWOSU had no runners reach base in the fifth or sixth inning. The Bulldogs did get two runners on in the seventh only to end the game by hitting into a double play.
