Softball Wins ECU Finale

Brittney Strickland pitched four and one-thirds inning of scoreless ball and sparked a five-run fifth inning with a leadoff homer. Strickland, who improved to 4-9 with the win, scattered five hits and kept the Tigers scoreless from the fourth inning on.
SWOSU lost the first game 7-5 and now find themselves at 13-22 overall and 2-10 in the Lone Star Conference North Division. ECU is now 18-23 and 7-9 in division play.
The Bulldogs scored four unearned runs in the fifth thanks to a two-out fielding error that extended the inning. Keri Glidewell, Megan McGill and Lacie Keplinger each singled as the Bulldogs got the better of ECU pitcher Randee Crockett.
In the first game, SWOSU found itself down 7-1 before scoring four runs in the top of the seventh to cause the Tigers to sweat out the finish. Meghan Browning and Keplinger each smashed a two-run home runs as the Bulldogs made their charge.
SWOSU had the tying run reach base before Erin Hutton ended the game with a ground out to the pitcher.
SWOSU will next play Tuesday, April 8 against Cameron University in a doubleheader set for Weatherford. First pitch is at 2 p.m.
