April 26, 2008

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. –Southwestern Oklahoma State University ended its 2008 softball season with a pair of losses at Northeastern State University by scores of 2-1 and 10-2.  The Bulldogs finished the season with a 15-32 mark and were 4-20 in the Lone Star Conference’s North Division.

In the first game, SWOSU got a solid pitching effort by Kaci Carpenter but were not able come up with much offensive help to support her. Carpenter gave up just six hits in six innings of work while allowing two runs.

SWOSU scored its only run in the top of the seventh when Krystina Steele delivered an RBI single that scored Stacey Creger.

In the second game, SWOSU dug itself a 5-0 hole after the first inning and were forced to fight from behind the rest of the way. The Bulldogs scored a run each in the third and fifth innings. SWOSU got on the board when Teryn Mazurkewich reached on a single and eventually scored on a fielder’s choice.

Mazurkewich did the same in the fifth, reaching on a single and then advanced around the bases before scoring on a fielder’s choice by Lacie Keplinger.
