Volleyball Team Tripped by Tarleton

Weatherford, OK - Southwestern Oklahoma State ’s tune up for the divisional part of its 2005 volleyball schedule sputtered as the Bulldogs were beaten by Lone Star Conference rival Tarleton State (30-12, 30-19, 30-22) Tuesday in Weatherford.SWOSU, now 3-12 on the season, will play LSC North foes for the remainder of its regular-season beginning Thursday at Southeastern Oklahoma State. SWOSU will play Texas A&M-Commerce Saturday on the road before returning home Thursday, Sept. 29 to face the University of Central Oklahoma.
Against Tarleton, the Bulldogs continued to be aggressive offensively but their hitting was off the mark. SWOSU had negative hitting percentages in the first two games (-.188, -.025) before getting into positive territory in game three (.133). SWOSU had game three tied at 18-18 before TSU went on a burst and scored the next six points to go up, 24-18.
Paula Harry led SWOSU offensively with 11 kills while teammate Janna Green had 10 digs to lead the defensive effort.
Tarleton ended the game hitting .306 as a team while SWOSU finished at -.009.
