SWOSU Extends UCO Before Losing

Weatherford, OK - Southwestern Oklahoma State put together one of its strongest volleyball outings of the season extending defending Lone Star Conference North division champion Central Oklahoma to four games before bowing 30-14, 11-30, 30-17, 30-15 in a match Thursday.The Bulldogs (3-14, 0-2) evened the match at 1-1 after an eye-popping second game in which SWOSU hit an amazing .519. SWOSU jumped out to an 8-0 lead and coasted to a 30-11 romp.
UCO (14-6, 4-0) regrouped and won the next two games in easier fashion by scores of 30-17 and 30-15.
SWOSU was led offensively by Kasandra Gurtner who had 12 kills while teammate Paula Harry added eight for the Bulldogs. SWOSU finished the four-game match with a .130 attacking percentage while UCO was at .196.
Defensively, Gurtner had one block solo and four block assists while teammate Amanda Ortega came up with 21 digs.
SWOSU, under the direction of coach Bo Pagliasotti, will next play Saturday against Cameron University at 2 p.m. in Rankin Williams Fieldhouse.
