SWOSU Swept by Texas Woman's

Denton, TX - Southwestern Oklahoma State saved its best game for last but were unable to win critical points down the stretch and fell to Texas Woman’s 30-25, 30-13 and 30-27 in a Lone Star Conference volleyball matchup Thursday in Denton.

The Bulldogs, 3-16 and 0-4 in the division, have lost their last eight straight – all against conference foes. TWU improved to 11-11 overall and 5-1 in division play.

SWOSU controlled game three maintaining a slim lead for much of the time. The Bulldogs led as late at 26-25 only to see the Pioneers score five of the game’s final six points to escape with a 30-27 lead.

The Bulldogs were led offensively by Kasandra Gurtner who finished with 11 kills while teammate Ashley Pettit added nine. SWOSU hit .027 as a team, finishing with 27 kills, 24 errors in 113 attack attempts.

TWU hit .250 with 50 kills, 17 errors in 127 attempts.

The Bulldogs, under the direction of coach Bo Pagliasotti, continue divisional play Saturday as they visit Midwestern State in Wichita Falls, Texas. The next home game is Thursday, Oct. 20 against Texas A&M-Commerce.
