SWOSU Net Victory Over OPSU

Weatherford, OK - Southwestern Oklahoma State University continued its mastery of Oklahoma Panhandle State winning 30-26, 30-23, 31-33, 30-21 in volleyball action Tuesday in GoodwellThe win was SWOSU’s fourth in 21 tries this season and its third in as many games over the Aggies. OPSU fell to 0-23 and continued a winless slide that stretches back to the 2003 season, a span of 41 straight games.
SWOSU put together one of its best statistical efforts of the season hitting at a .224 clip. Kasandra Gurtner had 20 kills while Tennesee Brown added 19 and Tiffany Shedrock, Ashley Pettit and Krista Butler had 11 each.
SWOSU appeared ready to sew the match up in three straight but let a 29-26 lead evaporate in game three and lost 33-31. The Bulldogs quickly rebounded and dispatched the Aggies with ease in a 30-19 romp in game four.
The Bulldogs, under the direction of Coach Bo Pagliasotti, will next play Friday and Saturday at the Lone Star Conference Crossover Tournament in Denton, Texas. The Bulldogs will face league heavyweights Abilene Christian and West Texas A&M along with Texas A&M-Kingsville. ACU and WTAM are a combined 40-2 in crossover competition.
SWOSU’s next home game is Thursday, Oct. 20 against Texas A&M-Commerce.
