Shedrock Wins LSC Weekly Honor

October 26, 2005

Richardson, TX - Southwestern Oklahoma State’s Tiffany Shedrock was recognized by the Lone Star Conference as the North Division’s Setter-of-the-Week. The weekly award is the first time a SWOSU volleyball player has been honored by the league office.

Shedrock, a sophomore from New Braunfels, Texas, led the Bulldogs to a 1-1 week which included the school’s first-ever conference victory Thursday against Texas A&M-Commerce. She had 50 assists and three kills while keeping the SWOSU offense humming along with a team-hitting percentage of .211. SWOSU beat TAMC 3-2, winning the fifth and deciding game 16-14.

Shedrock then added another 60 assists, the most by any SWOSU player this year, in a five-game loss Saturday against Southeastern Oklahoma.

Through SWOSU’s 27 matches this season, Shedrock ranks 10th in the league in assists, averaging 9.79 a game.

SWOSU (5-22, 1-6) continues its season with back-to-back-back road games beginning Thursday at Cameron, Friday at Central Oklahoma and Saturday at Dallas Baptist. The Bulldogs close their season with two home games next week – Midwestern State on Thursday, Nov. 3 and Texas Woman’s on Saturday, Nov. 5.
