Weatherford, OK - Southwestern Oklahoma State put forth a spirited effort but were unable to slow down a red-hot Southeastern Oklahoma State volleyball team, losing by scores of 30-26, 30-23, 30-27 Thursday in Weatherford.

The Bulldogs, now 4-11 on the year and 0-1 in the Lone Star Conference North Division, battled the Savage Storm on even terms for two of the three games but misfired down the stretch in both. SOSU improved to 9-6 and 1-1 in league play with the win.

SWOSU’s next game will be Saturday at home against LSC North rival Texas A&M-Commerce. The match is set to begin at 2 p.m.

In the first game, SWOSU squared it at 22-all on a service ace by Amanda Ortega (Sr., Amarillo, Texas) SOSU then regrouped and outscored the Bulldogs 8-4 during the game’s remainder for the victory.

The final game was the best of the match as both teams traded leads throughout the contest. Ashley Pettit’s (So., Sulphur Bluff, Texas) kill tied the game at 27 before three successive errors by SWOSU, one a service error and two attack errors ended the match at 30-27.
