Bulldogs Stalled at UCO

September 21, 2006

Edmond – Southwestern Oklahoma State had the brakes applied to its modest two-game volleyball winning streak Thursday by Central Oklahoma as the Bronchos came away with a 30-21, 30-19, 30-22 victory in Edmond.

The loss dropped SWOSU to 6-12 on the year and 1-2 in the Lone Star Conference North Division. UCO improved to 11-5 on the year and remained unbeaten in the North with a 3-0 record.

SWOSU was unable to generate much success against a stout UCO defense. The Bulldogs had only two attackers – Tennesee Brown and Ashley Claud – with a positive hitting percentage on the night. Brown had seven kills on 17 attacks with four errors, for a kill percentage of .174. Claud managed three kills in 11 attacks with two errors. As a team, SWOSU had more errors (32) than kills (31) for the first time this season.

UCO was led by Kelsey Reynolds who had 15 kills on 27 attempts with only five errors.

SWOSU’s next game is Saturday at Cameron University. The Bulldogs next home game will be Tuesday against Southern Nazarene. Tipoff is at 7 p.m.
