Bulldogs Beaten by TWU, 3-1

The loss dropped SWOSU to 7-14 overall and 1-4 in Lone Star Conference North Division play. TWU improved to 16-5 overall and 3-2 in league play.
SWOSU tied the match with a spirited second game that saw them jump in front early and stay ahead throughout in a 30-23 victory. The Pioneers then regrouped and won a tight third game, 30-25, before finishing off the Bulldogs by a 30-19 margin in the fourth.
SWOSU managed to carry an attack percentage of .159 through the four games with 57 kills on 159 attempts with 32 errors. Kasandra Gurtner and Tennessee Brown again provided the bulk of the offensive fireworks for the Bulldogs. Gurtner had 14 kills in 34 attempts while Brown managed 13 kills in 26 tries.

Defensively, SWOSU was unable to find an answer for TWU’s Krystle Everett who provided the Pioneers with big points when they needed it most. Everett finished with 19 kills on 33 attacks and hit into only four errors.
SWOSU’s next match will be at home against Midwestern State University on Saturday. Gametime is set for 12 noon.
