The victory improved SWOSU to 8-14 overall and 2-3 in LSC North Division play. MSU dropped to 10-8 and 1-4 in league play.
SWOSU star Kasandra Gurtner kept her elevated level of play for the Bulldogs leading the team with 16 kills in 38 attacks. Gurtner has had 14 or more kills in the last three consecutive contests.
Teammates Tennessee Brown and Paula Harry were next combining for 19 kills as a tandem. The Bulldogs carried a .212 team hitting percentage in the three games while limiting the Mustangs to just .103.
The MSU victory gives SWOSU important momentum heading into the upcoming LSC Volleyball Crossover Tournament next week in Kingsville, Texas. SWOSU faces defending LSC champion Abilene Christian and nationally-ranked West Texas A&M in two of the three matches. The remaining match is against Tarleton State.
SWOSU’s next home match is Tuesday, Oct. 10 against Oklahoma Panhandle State University, a team the Bulldogs have beaten five straight times.
