Bulldogs Battle Back, Beat WBU

Plainview, TX – Southwestern Oklahoma State University put together a late-match surge and fought past Wayland Baptist University for a 3-2 volleyball win Wednesday in Plainview, Texas.
The Bulldogs won by scores of 35-33, 23-30, 19-30, 30-20, 21-19. The victory was SWOSU’s second straight against the Pioneers and lifted the Bulldogs overall record to 9-14 on the year. WBU fell to 9-14 with the loss.
Tennessee Brown had 15 kills and teammate Kasandra Gurtner had 12 to lead the Bulldogs attack. As a team, SWOSU hit .109 as a team coming away with 61 kills in 184 attacks against 41 errors.
Kristen Kaufman and Tiffany Shedrock each did their job to pace the offensive effort. They shared assist honors each with 25.
SWOSU will next play in the Lone Star Conference Crossover Tournament beginning Friday in Kingsville, Texas. SWOSU faces defending league champion Abilene Christian in the first game Friday before closing against nationally-ranked West Texas A&M Saturday afternoon. SWOSU will meet Tarleton State in the middle game of the tournament.
The Bulldogs next home game is Tuesday, Oct. 10 against Oklahoma Panhandle State, a team SWOSU has beaten five straight times.
