Volleyball Signs Top Player

May 7, 2007

WEATHERFORD, Okla. -- Southwestern Oklahoma State University volleyball coach Bo Pagliasotti has announced the signing of junior college transfer Kacia Sandburg to a National Letters of Intent.  Sandburg, who played at Seminole State College, joins a SWOSU team that returns all of its top players from a year ago.

Sandburg, a 6-0 middle blocker from Westmoore, led her junior college team to the regional finals. She finished with 369 kills, 191 digs, and a team high 128 total blocks. In the region semifinal, she had a season-high 22 kills in a win against rival Redlands Community College.

“Kacia is going to be a huge asset to our program this next year,” Pagliasotti said.  “The first time I saw her play, I knew then she was a perfect fit for our team and what we are trying to do.  Working under (Seminole) Coach (Erin) Pick has just made her that much better.  We are very glad to welcome her to the family, and I see her making an immediate presence in the Lone Star Conference.”

The Lady Bulldogs will be returning seven seniors, four juniors and three sophomores who all saw significant action this past season.  “We have a strong, experienced group of players, and we are adding a top notch player that will only add to that strength.  I am very excited about this next year of Volleyball at SWOSU,” Pagliasotti said.

The Bulldogs report to camp on Aug. 7 and open the season Aug. 24 in a tournament at Arkansas Tech University. SWOSU’s home opener is Tuesday Aug. 28 at 7pm against Mid-America Christian University.
