Volleyball Loses to MSU

WEATHERFORD, Okla. --  Southwestern Oklahoma State University never could generate the offensive rhythm it needed and came up short losing to visiting Midwestern State University in three straight volleyball games Saturday. The Bulldogs were beaten by 30-17, 30-21 and 30-17.

The loss left SWOSU 7-10 overall and 0-2 in Lone Star Conference play. Midwestern State improves to 15-3 overall and 2-1 in league play.

The Mustangs kept the pressure on the Bulldogs throughout as they finished the game with 57 kills, against 12 errors in 119 attacks for a .378 hitting percentage. SWOSU managed 31 kills, against 16 errors in 116 attacks for a .129 hitting percentage.

MSU had three players with 10 or more kills while the Bulldogs had just one – Kasandra Gurtner – who had more than seven. Gurtner finished with 10 kills.

SWOSU will play Monday at Mid America Christian University before playing a pair of LSC road games at Southeastern Oklahoma State University and Central Oklahoma. The Bulldogs next home game will be part of the first-ever SWOSU Classic in which the Bulldogs will host a six-team festival beginning Friday, Oct. 5.
