Special Volleyball Promotion Planned

October 8, 2007

WEATHERFORD, Okla. – Dozens of prizes, T-shirts, and several other giveaway items highlight a lengthy-list of stuff awaiting what university officials hope is a record crowd for Southwestern Oklahoma State’s Oct. 11th volleyball match against Tarleton State.

The special match is being promoted as “Unleash the Beast – Fight Night 2007”, with a number of different activities planned prior, during and after the game. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. with first serve at 7 p.m.

SWOSU is looking to establish an unofficial Lone Star Conference attendance record for the 2007 season. Currently, the mark is 784 at a game hosted earlier this year by national power West Texas A&M University.

“We have been very lucky to have such great support from the students, faculty and staff over the last three years,” SWOSU volleyball coach Bo Pagliasotti said.
”Because of the support the SWOSU Athletic Association, we are able to have an event like this that not only showcases our great sport but honors our great fans.”

“We are shooting for at least 500 fans to get onto the nationally recognized 'Half-Grand' fan list at the American Volleyball Coaches Association.  What this does for our program is show the nation that Southwestern Oklahoma State University is a great place to come play in front of a bunch of great fans.”

The SWOSU Athletic Association is sponsoring much of the evening’s entertainment which will include spirit contest where three fans will walk away with a gift certificates totaling $100. Later in the evening a drawing for a new iPOD Touch, valued at more than $400, will be given away to one lucky ticket holder. In addition, free bottled water will be given at the door to those in attendance.

The first 75 fans will also receive a free “Unleash the Beast – Fight Night” T-shirt, courtesy of the Athletic Association.

During SWOSU’s match with Tarleton State, a serving contest is also slated between games two and three where fans have a chance to win T-shirts and other prizes.

Admission to all SWOSU volleyball matches is free. Tickets will be necessary to be eligible for door prizes and will be available to all who enter.
