WEATHERFORD, Okla. – Southwestern Oklahoma State University, buoyed by a school record volleyball crowd, managed to push visiting Tarleton State University to four games before eventually falling 3-1 in a match at Weatherford’s Rankin Williams Fieldhouse.

A promotional crowd of 654, the third largest in the Lone Star Conference this year, generated a spark of electricity that carried the Bulldogs throughout the match. Tarleton ended up winning by scores of 30-21, 30-19, 25-30 and 30-23.

The loss was SWOSU’s fifth straight and dropped the Bulldogs to 9-15 and 1-4 in league play. Tarleton improved to 10-11 and 4-3 with the win and avenged an earlier loss to the Bulldogs that came in August.

Kacia Sandburg had 11 kills and teammates Kasandra Gurtner and Tennessee Brown each had eight to lead SWOSU’s offensive attack. The Bulldogs finished with a .044 attack percentage with 31 kills in 159 attacks against 31 errors.

TSU was a bit more efficient managing 62 kills in 162 attacks against only 29 errors for a .204 hitting percentage.
