Volleyball Loses at SNU

BETHANY, Okla. – Southwestern Oklahoma State University’s final volleyball tuneup before Lone Star Conference play struck a sour chord as the Bulldogs fell in three straight games to Southern Nazarene University Tuesday night in Bethany.
SNU won by scores of 25-19, 25-23, 25-18. The loss dropped SWOSU to 5-7 on the year while the Crimson Storm improved to 8-5 on the year. SWOSU will next play Thursday at Cameron University and then Saturday at Midwestern State University.
SWOSU struggled offensively against SNU only generating a hitting percentage of .037. The Bulldogs had 29 kills and 25 errors in 107 attacks. Emily Walter had the best game statistically for SWOSU collecting a team-high nine kills.
SWOSU’s best chance at winning came in the second game. SWOSU fought back wiping away three game points and got within one at 24-23 when Walter delivered another of her kills. However, SNU regrouped one the final point to take the second game 25-23.
The third game was close until SNU went on a surge late and broke open a 17-16 game with a string of five straight points to go up 22-16 and take command of the contest.
