Volleyball Extends Midwestern

WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Southwestern Oklahoma State University regrouped after a shaky start and grabbed a game from unbeaten Midwestern State before falling 3-1 in a volleyball match Saturday in Wichita Falls, Texas.The Bulldogs fell by scores of 25-13, 25-11, 21-25 and 25-15. SWOSU’s record is now 5-9 overall and 0-2 in Lone Star Conference play. MSU won its 15th consecutive match in as many attempts. The Mustangs are 2-0 in league play.
SWOSU’s inspired play against MSU snapped a lethargic streak that has the Bulldogs currently mired in a four-game losing streak. Against Midwestern, SWOSU hit .168 as a team and had more than twice as many kills as errors for the first time since a pair of walkovers against Bacone and Texas College two weeks ago.
Senior Kacia Sandburg set a season-high with 13 kills against MSU. She only had four errors in 28 attempts and finished with an attack percentage of 321.
Other solid efforts by were turned in by Emily Walter who had nine kills followed by Jennifer Naramore and Breawn Waynes who each had seven kills.
SWOSU will next play its first home game of the season Thursday against Southeastern Oklahoma. Game time is set for 7 p.m. at Rankin Williams Fieldhouse.
