Volleyball Ready for Year

STEPHENVILLE, Texas – Southwestern Oklahoma State University began its two-game volleyball road trip through the state of Texas on the wrong side of a 3-0 score losing to Tarleton State 25-18, 25-16, 25-14.

The loss dropped SWOSU to 8-12 overall and 1-4 in Lone Star Conference play. Tarleton State improved to 15-6 and 5-1 in league play. The Bulldogs will next play Saturday afternoon at Texas A&M-Kingsville.

Little went right for the Bulldogs in their matchup with the TexAnns. SWOSU had a negative hitting percentage for the first time this season having more errors (28) than kills (23). SWOSU hit -.047 on 107 attacks. Tarleton, meanwhile, did not blink as they put together a .247 attack percentage with 34 kills against only 10 errors in 97 attempts.

Kacia Sandburg and Emily Walter each had six kills to lead SWOSU’s offensive attack.
