Volleyball Wins Behind Crowd

WEATHERFORD, Okla. – Southwestern Oklahoma State University gave a large and loud volleyball crowd plenty of reasons to cheer in an easy wipeout of visiting St. Gregory’s University Monday in Weatherford. The Bulldogs won by scores of 25-18, 25-11, 25-11 in a match that was played in front of a season-best crowd of 502 that rooted on their hometown favorites

The victory improved SWOSU to 11-14 overall. The Bulldogs will now play a pair of important conference games at Abilene Christian and at Angelo State later this week.

SWOSU was never seriously challenged in the match and ended up posting an attack percentage of .301. The NAIA visitors had more errors (25) than kills (18) and ended up with a negative percentage of -.070.

Kacia Sandburg had 14 of SWOSU’s 40 kills. The senior outside hitter had only three errors in 27 attempts and posted a sizzling .407 percentage. Teammate Emily Walter was extremely efficient as well having nine kills against only one error in 14 attacks for a percentage of .571.

Kristen Kaufman kept SWOSU’s offense clicking at full throttle collecting 31 of the team’s 33 total assists.
