The win improved SWOSU to 13-16 overall and 3-8 in the Lone Star Conference. Texas A&M-Commerce fell to 14-9 and 6-4 in league play. The Bulldogs will next play at home Saturday at 12 p.m. against Texas Woman’s University.
SWOSU used a number of attacks and had the visitors befuddled with their constant pressure and relentless hustle. The Bulldogs ended the game hitting .179 with 52 kills, against only 25 errors in 150 attacks . Meanwhile, Commerce did not play poorly until the last game when they hit for a negative hitting percentage. The Lions had 50 kills, 34 errors in 150 attacks for a .101 percentage for the match.
Emily Walter led three SWOSU players in double figures in kills with 14. She was joined by Kacia Sandburg with 12 and Jennifer Naramore with 10.
Setter Kristen Kaufman had an outstanding game keeping the offense clicking coming up with 34 of the team’s 45 assists.
Defensively, SWOSU had three players, Kayla Bader (17), Staci West (11) and Maddie Cummins (10) who had double figures in digs.
