Sandburg Wins LSC Honor

RICHARDSON, Texas – Southwestern Oklahoma State University volleyball standout Kacia Sandburg was recognized as one of the top volleyball players in the Lone Star Conference with her selection to the league’s all-conference team.
Sandburg, a senior middle blocker from Oklahoma City, was one of 14 players chosen to the LSC’s second team all-conference squad. She becomes only the second SWOSU volleyball player to be recognized on the league’s all-conference team, Kasandra Gurtner was also a second-team choice last year.
Sandburg led the team in several categories including kills (328), kills per game (2.93), attacks (884), block solos (33), block assists (61) and total blocks (94). She finished among the top 10 in the entire LSC in both kills per game and total blocks.
Also earning all-conference recognition was setter Kristen Kaufman who was picked to the league’s honorable mention list. She finished eighth in the LSC in assists with 1,007 and averaged 8.91 assists per game. Kaufman was an honorable mention choice last year.
A total of 42 volleyball players were selected for all-conference honors, 14 players each on the first, second and honorable mention teams. West Texas A&M, which posted a perfect 13-0 record had the most with seven honorees, including Laura Prinson as player-of-the-year.
