Prospective Students
Admissions Procedure
The Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribal College (CATC), being in its developmental phase, has established a “host university” relationship with Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU). SWOSU, a fully accredited member with the North Central Association (NCA) of Colleges and Schools and has agreed dual enroll lower division, undergraduate students wishing to enter as CATC students. Courses taken through this dual enrollment process are transferable to any NCA accredited institution. This arrangement will remain in place until CATC has attained accreditation from North Central Association (NCA) of Colleges and Schools.
The following are steps students should follow to register with CATC:
- Apply for Undergraduate Admission to SWOSU (Process Explained Below)
- Application for Admission to SWOSU and CATC (SWOSU Application Fee is $15.00)
- CATC Application Enrollment Schedule CNC
- FAFSA Application for the Pell Grant (FAFSA can be filled out online)
- List SWOSU as one of the colleges to receive the FAFSA results. SWOSU’s college code is 003181. SWOSU Financial Aid office telephone number is 580.774.6003.
- Certificate Degree of Indian Blood (CDIB) card, if claiming Indian membership
- Student I.D. (SWOSU)
- Assessment Testing
- Official Transcripts (2 copies) CATC & SWOSU
- High School/GED
- Other Colleges Attended
- Letter of Acceptance from SWOSU.

Performance Requirements
If you have graduated from an accredited high school and have met the Oklahoma High School 15 unit core curricular requirements, you are eligible to make application to Southwestern Oklahoma State University. Applicants to the Weatherford campus must meet one of the following performance requirements:
- Minimum ACT of 20 (940 SAT) OR
- Rank scholastically in the upper 50% of his/her graduating class and an overall high school GPA of approximately 2.7 OR
- Have a high school GPA of 2.7 (4.0 scale) in the 15-unit core curriculum.

Proficiency Requirements
Students having an ACT score of 18 or below in any of the four subject areas of Math, English, Reading, or Science have the option of
- Taking a computerized placement test (CPT) to determine their level of placement in classes OR
- Enrolling in remedial classes for non-credit.
Students with an SAT verbal or quantitative scores below 455 will also have the above options.
In order to use computer technology more effectively, keyboarding proficiency is necessary. Students having taken a typing or keyboarding class have satisfied this requirement. Students who do not meet this requirement must take and pass a proficiency exam or enroll in a one-credit hour keyboarding class during their first semester.
