Dr. Barbara Patterson
Associate Dean, School of Nursing
Dr. Patterson graduated from Southwestern Oklahoma State University with a bachelor’s of science degree in nursing, a master’s in nursing from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, and a doctorate in adult and community education from the University of Oklahoma. Her professional experience includes staff nursing, management, clinical education, technical education, business owner, and as a faculty and administrator in higher education.
Dr. Patterson’s research interests are rural health and workplace safety. She has published in Journal of Nursing Education, Caring, and Journal of Nursing Staff Development. She has served on numerous advisory boards including the American Diabetes Association, American Heart Association, and Full Circle Adult Day Center of Cleveland County.
She also has served on nursing program advisory boards including the University of Central Oklahoma, Redlands Community College, Western Oklahoma State College, and Western Technology Center. She holds memberships in the Oklahoma and American Nurses Associations, the Oklahoma and National Leagues for Nursing, and the Oklahoma Health Educators Association. She is a volunteer for the Oklahoma Medical Reserve Corps.
