Dr. Gary D. Wolgamott
Associate Dean, School of Allied Health Sciences
Dr. Gary Wolgamott is a Bernhardt Professor in microbiology
and immunology at Southwestern Oklahoma State University,
Weatherford, OK. He received his B.S. degree in chemistry
and biology from Northwestern
Oklahoma State University in 1963 and his Doctor of
Philosophy in microbiology from Oklahoma State University
in 1968. He has post doctorate research
experience in medical microbiology at the University
of Iowa College of Medicine, Iowa City, IA and the
Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center,
Houston, TX. His basic research focused on the mechanisms
of anti-microbial agents and the pathogenesis of microbial
disease.
Dr. Wolgamott has served professionally on the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences, Medical Technology Review Committee for 10 years and was Chairman of the Oklahoma Collegiate Academy of Science for 10 years. He has served as President and was elected a "Fellow" of the Oklahoma Academy of Science. He also served as the Education Coordinator for the American Society of Microbiology, Missouri Valley Branch for 12 years. Dr. Wolgamott is currently the National Executive Secretary -Treasurer and Newsletter editor for Lambda Tau, an undergraduate honor society for medical technology, and is National President of Beta Beta Beta (Tri Beta), an undergraduate biological honor society. Dr. Wolgamott has been actively involved in AIDS education and has published numerous articles relating to microbiology and immunology in the Lambda Tau newsletter and BIOS.
