Faculty Senate Meeting Unapproved Minutes for December 14, 2001
The Faculty Senate met on December 14th, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. on Sayre campus in the ITV room, and on the Weatherford campus EDU—201 with F.S. President Les Crall presiding. Dr. Crall called the meeting to order and a quorum was established with the following members: Ric Baugher, Kathy Brooks, Stephen Burgess, Les Crall, Tommye Davis, Bob Dorlac, Elizabeth Ferrell, Cynthia Foust, Jeff Gentry,
John Hayden, Faye Henson, Robin Jones, Debbie Keasler, Don McGurk, Gus Ortega, Nelson Perkins, Shelly Prince, Ken Rose, James South, Ronna Vanderslice, and
Ben Welch.

CERTIFICATION OF SUBSTITUTES
The following substitute was
certified: Harry Nowka for Nancy
Buddy-Penner.
III.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
The November 30, 2001 minutes were approved with correction that
FS Motion 2001-11-05 was postponed indefinitely. The corrected minutes will be distributed campus wide.
IV.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
A. FS President: Les Crall
1. Sayre Dean position status—Goal is to have someone in place by June 30th.
2. Adm. Council minutes were reported on at November FS meeting.
3. Exec. Council or Admin. Council—no meeting in December.
4. Council of Deans—October 24th minutes will be emailed to FS. No meeting scheduled for November, and December meeting was the 4th. An agenda will be emailed to FS.
B. FS Past President: Faye Henson—No report
C. Secretary/Treasurer: Cindy Foust
1. Roll Sheet: The roll sheet was distributed for signatures on both campuses.
2. Treasurer’s Report: BancFirst checking acct. has $ 1517.04; and
Uni. Acct. has $ 647.28.
D. President Elect: John Hayden
1. HEACO status: 29 applications have been sent in.
E. Student Government Representative: Andrea Ward—No report.
V. REPORTS FROM STANDING AND AD HOC COMMITTEES--None
VI.
OLD BUSINESS
A. Proposal to recognize faculty on their tenth anniversary of service to Southwestern. Tabled from November meeting. Motion was passed to untable FS Motion 2001-11-04.
FS Motion 2001-11-04: Beginning in fall 2002, full-time faculty who have just completed their tenth year of service to Southwestern should receive a modest plaque or other commemorative, awarded by Faculty Senate, in recognition of their service.
Discussion was held.
The following amendment was made and seconded:
Faculty Senate will recognize faculty for five years of service, and increments of five-years.
Amendment passed. Motion passed.
An ad hoc committee was formed with members: Jeff Gentry,
Gus Ortega, and Faye Henson to recommend a type of commemorative with estimated cost.
B. Finals Schedule concerns: See handout.
1. Multi-section for MGMT is listed twice.
The following motion was made and seconded:
FS Motion 2001-12-01: Drop Friday night MGMT section.
Discussion was held. The motion passed.
2. Multi-section Intro. to Lit. was unintentionally omitted.
The following motion was made and seconded:
FS Motion 2001-12-02: Move Multi-section Eng. Comp. to Thursday 12:30-2:30 p.m. Add Intro. To Lit. to Multi-section Monday, 8:30-10:30 a.m. with Multi-section Speech.
Discussion was
held. The motion passed.
