Office of Sponsored Programs

Who Are We?

The Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) promotes and facilitates scholarly activity at Southwestern Oklahoma State University by supporting and administering all activities involving extramural and intramural sponsored programs.  OSP serves as a central location to carry out the University’s extramural (external) and intramural (internal) sponsored activity.  OSP is an academic office and reports to the Provost.

Extramural Activities:  The major area of responsibility is extramural sponsored programs whereby principal investigators are assisted in the preparation and submission of grant and contract proposals.  The office also acts as a liaison between the granting agencies, such as the government and private sector, and the University to ensure compliance and acts as a mechanism whereby the University carries out the programmatic and monetary obligations of the activity.   To that end, all grants, contracts, and cooperative agreements representing University obligations must be authorized through OSP.  Please review additional information provided on the OSP web site to learn about funding opportunities and other pertinent information.

Intramural Activities: OSP intramural activities include Financial Assistance Awards (FA), Proposal Development Awards (PDA), and Organized Research Awards (OR).  In addition, OSP maintains the archives for various Institutional Review Boards, the University Community's Scholarly Activity and Academic Activity, and in conjunction with the University Research and Scholarly Activity Committee, sponsors an annual SWOSU Student Research and Scholarly Activity Fair.

Continuing Education—Community Service:   Continuing Education (CE)—Community Service Activities are offered through OSP.  CE at SWOSU provides life-long learning opportunities for the campus and surrounding communities to assist citizens in the achievement of personal, family, civic, or professional goals through the offering of diversified short-term noncredit activities.  It also extends to faculty and others with expertise the opportunity to share their talents and abilities with the community and to reap some financial regards for their expertise and effort.
