If you receive a lost book or overdue notice with fines on library materials you believe has been returned to the library, you must fill out a “Claims Returned” form (available at the Circulation Desk.)
At the time the form is received, the item(s) will be designated as “claims returned,” suspending the accrual of fines. Circulation staff will search for the item(s) for a period of 60 days. It is also the shared responsibility of the library user to search his/her room, apartment, car, etc. for the item.
At the end of the 60 days, if the item(s) are not found, you will be responsible for replacement cost of the item(s). If the item is found in the library, the item will be discharged from your account, and all fines will be forgiven. If you find the item and return it to the library, you will be assessed the amount of the fine that had accrued up to the point of the placement of the Claims Returned form.
Any library user with three or more claimed returned items may have borrowing privileges suspended.
Return receipts for library materials are available on request. Materials must be returned to the Circulation Desk in order to request a receipt.
