Southwestern Room

Purpose: This special collection is for Southwestern Oklahoma State University materials, which require the kind of care that necessitates housing the materials in restricted quarters. These materials include annual catalogs, commencement programs, student publications, histories, college annuals, photographs, and correspondence.

Security: Materials in the Southwestern Room require not only security, but also protection from theft, fire, water, proper temperature and humidity control.

Acquisitions: Acquisition of such materials comes through he generosity of alumni and friends of the university and university departments. All gifts become the property of the University. The Library has authority to discard or add materials. An attempt will be made to acquire current materials. Publications are usually cataloged in the on-line catalog. Retention: Three copies will be retained of all publications of SWOSU. Additional copies will be added or deleted as they become available or requested.

Usage: Users must sign in at the circulation desk to gain access to the room. If full-time staff determine the individual may retain the key, a picture ID is also retained at the circulation desk. Otherwise, a staff member will remain in the room to assist the patron. When photocopy service is required, the library staff will make the required copies because of the danger of damage. Materials are non-circulating except for exhibit or classroom purposes or on special loan approved by the Director of the Library or the Head of Public Services. Please contact the Circulation Desk at (580)774-3730 for more information.
