Online Audio Books

The sites on this page provide audio books that can be downloaded to your MP3 player or streamed to your computer.

The Al Harris Library also has a large collection of audio books on CD. You can search the library catalog for audio books (select "Limit to audio books") or browse the CD collection in the south east corner of the first floor.

LibriVox makes public domain books available for free in audio format. Many LibriVox-recorded titles are also available through Project Gutenberg Audio Books.
Lit2Go is a free online collection of childrens' stories and poems in MP3 format. An abstract, citation, playing time, and word count are given for each of the passages. Many of the passages also have a related reading strategy identified. Each reading passage can also be downloaded as a PDF and printed for use as a read-along or as supplemental reading material for classroom use.
Naxos Spoken Word Library
Listen to classic novels, plays, and poetry from medieval times to the twentieth century. All works are read by professional actors and actresses. Browse 21 categories, from Children's Classics, Classic Fiction, to Shakespeare's Plays, Music Education, and more. Many texts are available to follow on-screen or can be printed out.

Project Gutenberg Audio Books
Project Gutenberg makes audio eBooks available for many public domain literary works. The audio books are divided into two categories: human-read and computer-generated audio books. All Project Gutenberg Audio Books are free to download and listen to any device that supports MP3 or Ogg Vorbis audio formats.
