Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews | More Cochrane databases ...
The CDSR is database of reviews which identify an intervention for a specific disease or other problem in health care, and determine whether this intervention works. To do this, authors locate, appraise and synthesize evidence from as many relevant scientific studies as possible. They summarize conclusions about effectiveness, and provide a unique collation of the known evidence on a given topic, so that others can easily review the primary studies for any intervention. The CDSR is one of six Cochrane Collection databases.

Drug Information Portal
This National Library of Medicine web site lets you search a wide range of US government resources for information on over 15,000 drugs. The Drug Information Portal searches all of these databases: MedlinePlus, AIDSinfo, Medline/PubMed, LactMed, HSDB, Dietary Supplements Labels Database, TOXLINE, DailyMed, ClinicalTrials.gov, PubChem, NIAID Anti-HIV/OI Database, ChemIDplus, Drugs@FDA, DEA, and USA.gov.

Drugs@FDA
A FDA-maintained database for official information about approved brand name and generic drugs. Drugs@FDA lets you finding labels for approved drug products, find generic drug products for a brand name drug product, find therapeutically equivalent drug products, find consumer information for drugs approved from 1998 to the present, find all drugs with a specific active ingredient, and view the approval history of a drug.

This drug information resource provides monographs detailing actions, indications, administration and dosage, interactions, adverse reactions, warnings and more. Comprehensive tables compare products of similar formulation, including doseform and strength, distributor name, how supplied, product identification codes and more.

FDA Orange Book (Approved Drug Products with Therapeutic Equivalence Evaluations)
The Orange Book identifies drug products approved on the basis of safety and effectiveness by the FDA. (Drugs approved only on the basis of safety are not included.) It also contains therapeutic equivalence evaluations for multisource prescription drug products. The Orange Book is searchable by active ingredient, proprietary name, applicant holder, and application number.

IBIDS (International Bibliographic Information on Dietary Supplements)
IBIDS contains citations to international scientific journals on the topic of dietary supplements, including vitamins, minerals, herbal and botanical supplements.

IDIS/Web (Iowa Drug Information Service)

IDIS is an index to information on drugs and human drug therapy found in the primary literature of approximately 200 leading medical and pharmaceutical journals. If you're new to IDIS/Web, learn the basics with this tutorial.

International Pharmaceutical Abstracts (IPA)
IPA provides information on all phases of the development and use of drugs and on professional pharmaceutical practice. The scope of the database ranges from the clinical, practical, and theoretical to the economic and scientific aspects of the literature. IPA indexes approximately 750 journals.

MEDLINE with Full Text (EBSCOhost)
MEDLINE indexes journals in the fields of medicine, nursing, dentistry, and veterinary medicine. It also covers research on the health care system and the preclinical sciences. MEDLINE contains citations and abstracts from approximately 5,200 current biomedical journals published in the US and 70 foreign countries.

MEDLINE Plus
Medline Plus has patient-oriented information from the National Institutes of Health and other trusted sources on over 650 diseases and conditions. There are also lists of hospitals and physicians, a medical encyclopedia and a medical dictionary, health information in Spanish, extensive information on prescription and nonprescription drugs, health information from the media, and links to thousands of clinical trials. MedlinePlus is updated daily. There is no advertising on this site, nor does MedlinePlus endorse any company or product.

Merck Manual Online
The Merck Manual is the most widely used medical text in the world. Written by over 300 experts, it covers all but the most obscure disorders. In addition to describing symptoms, common clinical procedures, laboratory tests, and virtually all the disorders that a general internist might encounter, the Manual deals with problems of pregnancy and delivery; common and serious disorders of neonates, infants, and children; genetics; drug dependency; psychiatric disorders; and many disorders covered by other specialties.  Current therapy is presented for each disorder and supplemented with a separate section on clinical pharmacology.

MICROMEDEX
This resource provides rapid access to information on drugs, diseases, acute care, toxicology, alternative medicines, and patient education.

This web-based search service from the UK's National Health Service provides easy access to high quality clinical and non-clinical information about health and social care.

A comprehensive database of evidence-based clinical practice guidelines and related documents, created under the guidance of the US DHHS. Wired.MD provides online videos and full-text materials that are useful for patient education and, for the healthcare student, developing better understanding of common medical procedures and the treatment of many common disorders and diseases.
