- Freer and Sackler Galleries (Asian Art)
Freer Gallery houses a world-reowned collection of art from China, Japan, Korea, and Southeast Asia and was founded by Charles Lang Freer, a railroad manufacturer from Detroit, who donated his collection and the funds for the gallery's construction. Sackler Gallery houses a collection from Southeast Asia, China and ancient Near East artifacts and antiquities, and was founded by Dr. Arthur M. Sackler, a research physician and medical publisher from New York City, who donated his collection and the funds for the gallery's construction.
